CBM Book Review - Shepherd’s Inn

Beginning with several characters from a narrative, the relevance of Shepherd’s Inn and how it came to be reveals this special place and those who run it. Common bonds develop over the years at Shepherd’s Inn that mend the characters together with interesting twists and turns, revealing that we all have a story.

Each character adds flavor to the telling of Shepherd’s Inn, drawing readers into a climatic conclusion at the Inn. These connections, events and lives, all intertwining, make for an experience that express a common theme – we all have challenges.

With God and caring friendships we can move into our future, away from what has kept us bound. With hints of romance and humor, the book relates the importance of community and human kindness – as paying it forward and belonging helps readers to understand the need for God, the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ.

Offering a satisfying conclusion, the author has written a heart-warming and emotional read that shares God’s grace, love, hope, kindness, forgiveness, and emotional healing that brings the light of God’s love into the forefront.

Shepherd’s Inn: The Gift, by Dave Stokley, writes an engaging and inspiring novel during time leading up to the Christmas season at Shepherd’s Inn. Set in modern times, the author sheds light on humanity’s trials and crisis, purpose and God with the bringing together of different individuals to Shepherd’s Inn.

I find this book one that brings peace, hope and serenity to the soul as it relates to the gift; it’s a message that we all need. ~ An amazing and highly recommended read! 10.0 out of 10.0 stars. - You may get your copy of Shepherd’s Inn: The Gift at Amazon and in Kindle.

Glory Story

Glory Story by Keisha McGeachy is a short book (38 pages) of inspirational poems that offer readers  wisdom, insight and deep reflections upon life, the glory and triumphs, the sorrow and the pain, coupled with “selah” moments in beauty of nature and creation, in family –  giving Glory of God as her title denotes.

Culminated from her daily and life experiences, her book is real, honest, and touching. Considering some of the most complex subjects, readers will get a glimpse into some facets of inner emotional life and thoughts that they can glean from and learn from.  She relates to all. that we all have something in common – whether it be in relationships, being “a Daddy’s girl” or relating to Heaven above, we all share our humanness together. She also relates her views upon the world and materialism that present thought provoking attitudes about life, the pursuit of the “American Dream,  death, poverty and living in the present.  Her poem of the butterfly (along with others) captures the imagination with a beautiful description of the graceful butterfly, as do many others that encourage and inspire to rise above circumstances and to look to God.

Impactful and powerful, the author has also intertwined scriptural truths from Scripture and the book of Proverbs that relate all walks of life a reverence to God, life and liberty that peace in Jesus offers.
This is a wonderful book reflecting one woman’s life experiences and reflections given to God and His Glory, that also recount  the value of inspired Scripture and a life in God to bring beauty, remembrance and gratitude to the forefront.

For God So Loved

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  Today is when we commemorate the birth of our Savior.

If He hadn’t come to pay the ransom for sin, each one would still be lost, because the blood of animal sacrifices was only a covering for sin until the Messiah came, because it would never remove the penalty for sin. God is looking for thankful people who want to live for Him.

Determine in your spirit you are going to be a greater reflection of His nature than ever before. Expect the Holy Spirit to guide you on a continual basis. The first part of the above verse refers to God’s love. He wants to demonstrate His love for others through you. The more time you spend in praise and worship, the easier it becomes for you to reflect His love to others. Sometimes this may be hard to do, but expect God to help you.

Get It In Kindle - The Victim's Cry

Book Reviews by CBM -The Victim’s Cry: Discovering Hope & Healing Through Forgiveness by Steven D. Griffin is an encouraging book that exposes truth from a Christian perspective to help readers find lasting healing and freedom from past offenses, pain and unforgiveness.

As the author presents steps to dealing with past offenses, disappointment and deep bitterness, the author writes from his own journey after separation in his own marriage.

Offering Biblical knowledge, and additionally sharing some of the reasons why we suffer in this world, the author writes a concise, yet simple book to discover hope and healing through the power of Christ.

Full of Scripture and Biblical insights on the issues of forgiveness, heart attitudes and judgments are examined that presents to readers refreshment to the soul, giving them practical solutions to seek after God and His plan for healing.

Readers will also learn from the Introduction that the book is a God-birthed book written from someone who has experienced God’s plan of restoration. As the author highlights this statement from the Lord, “I want you to write a book about My plan of rescue for people who have been hurt.

Many of my people are bound up, and I will use this book to help set them free.” The author offers hope to those who feel like victims. What is quite unique is that he begins with the definition of a victim. As it turns out, we all have been victims at one time or another.

With heartfelt compassion, the author’s hope and prayer in reading this book is that individuals will find lasting freedom in Christ and come to an understanding that they are more than conquerors in Christ.

Divided into 5 Open and Shut Steps to Freedom, such issues as selfishness, bitterness, anger, hatred, judgments address heart attitudes that help readers identify these feelings and emotions, turning to God for help. Once identified through a godly lens, the truth of God’s Word is applied and a renewing of the mind begins, refreshing and cleansing the troubled heart and emotions.

This is a wonderful book that gives the keys to finding restoration in one’s soul that brings a transformed life, and in turn transformed relationships through forgiveness. Readers will find that broken relationships can be repaired.

I cannot recommend this book enough, in that it gives the Biblical steps to finding restoration in relationships and helps readers take a look at their own heart, inspiring them to look up to God. Reading this book also produce godly character by presenting to readers a practical application of God’s Word. Freedom will be found if the steps are applied and the person submits to God. Increased intimacy with Christ will also be developed and lasting peace, love and joy will be found as people are set free.

This book comes highly recommended for anyone that needs encouragement, understanding and hope to issues that have caused strife, division and separation within their life.

For those struggling with anger, resentment, depression and unforgiveness, this book will help those individuals release these feelings and find relief. I have to say to the author, “Thank You,” for hearing from God and having the courage to follow through. His testimony of how he clearly heard from God and obeyed is inspiring!

Battling Suicide, There Is Hope

Stating in his book description, “Soul Doubt breaks through with solution-focused answers and proven ways to battle depression and suicide.”

Leo J. Battenhausen, as an author and psychotherapist, discusses the overwhelming and detrimental impact that depression and suicide are having upon society in the United States. Additionally stating  alarming statistics from the World Health Organization (2016) that suicide and depression are presently at an “epidemic high”. The author also adds that the organization’s prediction is that by 2020 depression will be the most diagnosed disease after heart disease.

These facts, coupled with society’s views and attempts to “cure” depression with various treatments and drugs, bolster our culture that expresses itself as its own God. Selfishness, greed, media, government, and liberalism’s mantra have taken away from family and marriages like we have never seen before in the United States. With this in mind, the author makes an impressive statement – People need God and need to believe in God. With a focus on giving solutions to depression and suicide, intertwined with keen insight, he offers this book to help others recognize and be free in their souls from destructive thoughts and behaviors that are literally killing many.

Giving an overview of healthy parenting and relationships that include marriages, the author explores the human condition and the soul. Offering a laymen’s view of the soul, he explains the doubts we possess in relation to satisfying the deep void within. Despite technical advances in this information age, the author shares that we as humans are not developing as we should and have forgotten who we are. Advocating that parents invest in their children in meaningful ways, to include their parenting skills, he also exposes a spiritual side to the issue of the mind, soul and emotions. Offering readers an understanding of the realm of the soul, a secular worldview is also considered. His position is that we cannot ignore our souls, which is the essence of who we are.

Revealing what really wages war against our souls, will and emotions, the author has written a compassionate book that speaks frankly to believers and non-believers alike, sharing that there is hope and a solution to this soul problem. Well-balanced, informative, encouraging, his insight is an important work tackling the woes that plague our society, but more importantly offers real answers and hope that presents truth. The truth that God is real, and that we all need God, is something that the author will not compromise.

Truthfully, this is a much-needed book in today’s society. As a skilled professional, he knows the human condition and speaks of the healing of the soul, mind and spirit. Presenting a wealth of knowledge, the spiritual battle, modern-psychology, the author offers real answers to those who are suffering or know someone who is suffering. This comes as a highly recommended must-read for all parents, married couples raising children, teens, young adults and newly married couples.

Believing God For More

Authors Gary and LeeAnne Dyck give their accounts of God doing the miraculous in their lives and in the lives of others .

From a returned earring to multiplied food, from angels transporting lost items back to the authors, to real-life accounts of Heaven, this book reveals realms, miracles and that God is in the business of doing miracles.

First beginning with a little background on their upbringing, both husband and wife share how God has intervened, revealing that He cares about the little things, the big things and everything in between. The point of writing such a book is so that others would understand that they can believe God for miracles. Even the impossible!

This truly is an amazing book, to hear of such unbelievable miraculous things happening in the everyday life of two believers (and that of other believers and churches), not only stirs great faith, but shows how good our Heavenly Father is.

These true accounts all come from the eye-witness accounts of the authors. As the book continues to reveal, there are many, even in the Church, that just don’t believe in the miracles after they happen. After reading this book, one just might consider that those “kinds” of miracles only happen to select people. As readers will learn, God gives to all. They include at then end of chapters a quick prayer, simple and to the point. They insist there is no “magic” formula. It is God who does the miracles!

A highly recommended read for those that want to believe God for more, for the impossible and I guarantee you will read this through in one night!

Christ Is the Bridge to Salvation

Highly recommended for young teens to increase faith, to encourage them to put on the Armor of God and to reveal the Truth of God’s Words.

The Bridge from OneDayBow
Kathy M. Warden

The Bridge from OneDayBow is a fictional and modern-day parable of the Gospel. Written with the use of rhyme and poetry, the author offers an interesting “twist” that brings an understanding of the Kingdom of God versus what the world advocates.

Captivating, yet eye-opening, four characters are portrayed – Truth and Life versus Lies and Death that parallel Scripture, and present insight to life’s purpose. The author’s message is simple, and conveys the truth of eternity coupled with God’s absolute authority as the King of kings and Lord of lords; and His Word, that presents an opportunity to believe in the Good News.  Her hopes are to bring others to the Truth of the Word of God and to salvation in Jesus Christ alone. This is a fantastic book for young and old alike, and although fictional, depicts the battle for your soul and life’s meaningless destiny without knowing your Maker, God Himself.

Intertwined with scripture, Tim, the main character, knows there has just got to be more meaning to life other than collecting bobbles. He embarks on a journey of discovery to find Truth and discovers that there is much deception in his world, depending on who one listens to. He finds that there is a way that brings life, joy and much peace into one’s heart and soul (his nooma) and that this peace is not found in worldly bobbles and collecting, but journeying beyond the HereandNow. A mysterious Bridge, leads the way to finding answers. Tim discovers God’s armor as mentioned in Ephesians 6 and that he has all he needs to win the victory!

This book is a wonderful allegory of the salvation of the cross that is possible through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the bridge to salvation and in hopes of leading others to discover their own salvation, the author has penned an incredible adventure that reveals the truth of God’s Word.  ~ A triumphant literal accomplishment giving new life to the genre of Pilgrim’s Progress.

The Demise Of Earth

A highly recommended book for the Christian Fiction lover. Filled with Biblical undertones, a riveting saga, O’Dell reveals the spiritual realm, highlighting the battle of evil behind the scenes, that have relentlessly attacked God’s creation from the beginning - mankind. Ultimately, ending in Jesus’ great forgiveness for all who would believe. A great fictional read. ~ CBM

In this page turner, The Nephilim Project: A Demon’s Chronicle by Steve O’Dell is a fast-paced adventure extrapolating from historical and Biblical movements of history such as David’s epic battle against Goliath, and Jesus’ crucifixion. Some are telling as to “what it might have been like” in those days, but still, fiction at its best, intertwining the dark plots of evil upon an innocent world.

Lucifer, known as the Prince of the Air, and his forces wreak havoc in an unfettered, and strategic assault. Utoneious speaks about his exploits and recoils at the telling of his part along Lucifer’s side, as he tells of the exploration of the great regions of space. The author portrays the realities of the spiritual realm with intensity and realism, combining truth, logic, the supernatural.

Waiting for Earth’s demise – their (Lucifer and his fallen angels) goal is to keep man separated from GodRevealing the supernatural realm from the demonic perspective, the battle is depicted through this statement by a demon, “We need to bring about a complete and comprehensive seduction, persuading men there is no judgment.

Satan demands their loyalty either knowing or unsuspecting. Give them the earth, wooden idols, or golden gods to worship; it matters not. These things bring the same end. If we cannot escape Hell neither will man. Obey me, and mankind will also suffer the wrath of God!”  Compelling, to say the least!

Further revealing such great events like the Great Flood being God’s judgment due to man’s increasing wickedness, the story unfolds with Noah and his family and their departure from the Ark to a destroyed and water deluged Earth.

As the only remnant saved by a righteous God, Noah is to begin again, and to reclaim and replenish the Earth once more. Depicting the struggles that Noah and his family must have faced after the Flood makes for an interesting read. As the story progresses, a deeper evil is revealed, a power that is controlled by Satan as mankind fights for survival – The secret of the Nephilim is revealed.

Captivating, this novel involves a deeper story, one that is of spiritual warfare. The author opens worlds that are not visible, but still exist, to the reader, giving them challenging scenarios to contemplate as evil declares war upon humanity. Stating that, “Faith and love are the driving forces of redemption, and the two concepts reflect the nature of God.” in this aspect, this a deeply inspiring read, one filled with intrigue and suspense as the plot deepens with many twists and turns that also involve subplots of the Knights of the Templar and a holy relic.

Modern Pentecost

Just Released

New Christian Book Release - Diary of a Charismatic: Essays on the Spirit Filled Life by Robert LaBarge offers insight into his journey and what being a Spirit-filled believer looks like.  Once an Atheist, Robert LaBarge shares about his coming to salvation in Jesus Christ brought about by the 1970’s Charismatic Renewal movement that impacted the Catholic Church and his entire family.  His personal journey is marked by finding true love in Jesus as Lord and being powerfully touched by what is known as the Father’s Love.  One will find his book touching, powerful and life-changing as the author speaks with candor and Biblical wisdom that make living a Spirit-filled life easily understandable and yet, accessible to all.

In each short writing the author relates Scripture and presents Biblical teaching to many aspects of the Kingdom that shed light on life in the Spirit. Beginning on being born from above and the moving of the Holy Spirit and outpourings around the world, document the Charismatic movement and speak on such subjects as: salvation, Jesus as Lord, trusting in God, the grace of God, as well as the spiritual gifts that were indicative of this movement.

Offering encouragement and guidance into how to receive the gift of tongues also brings further discussion on other gifts such as: the gift of prophecy, discernment of spirits and deliverance, and gifts of healing that offer readers wisdom.  With candor, and some writings that share some light humor, this book will assist readers in coming to know Jesus that brings a deeper understanding of what being filled by the Holy Spirit means Biblically and experientially.

What is great about this book is that the author offers a true Biblical perspective of the Charismatic movement for those that doubt and gives readers knowledge that the focus of that movement is really understanding that Jesus IS Lord – Lord of Your Life, coupled with coming to know Him in intimate relationship.

The author condemns the idea that the Spirit-filled life is emotionalism conjured up to make one feel good, great worship, etc., as some might think. And also shares that there is available from On High a Baptism in the Holy Spirit that continues today, citing quick historical evidence of modern-day Acts signs and wonders. Thus, his point remains steadfast that signs and wonders did not end with the last apostle; they are evident in the Church throughout history.

Next, the author makes a fantastic statement that describes what life in Christ is meant to be that I have to include (p.11), “Modern Pentecost is about surrendering our souls to everything that the Father desires for us. It is about us being weak and Him being strong and the Holy Spirit leading us in our weakness to do strong things.

It is about faith that is alive, hope in the midst of the worries of this world and learning to love all those with whom we share this earthly soil. And it is about trusting Him, that when we yield our heads and our hearts, our feet, hands and tongue, that He knows who we are and can do all He has promised.”
