Jesus Gardens Me: A Follower of Jesus

David J. Jackson writes a poignant read, Jesus Gardens Me: A Follower of Jesus, inspiring readers to intimacy in Christ by allowing the Lord God to be the Gardner of your life. He states, “I like the image of Jesus the itinerant preacher cultivating Mary Magdalene as a gardener. It was an inspiration calling me to tell my story, Jesus Gardens Me.”

Posing an interesting question that thus began his research, Jackson asked, “What if Mary Magdalene was not mistaken? What if who she met was Jesus ‘the gardener’?” From that question, quickly became this book, as he questions, relays his research, and finds: “Scholarly interpretations, difference of interpretations, personal inspiration, prayerful reflections, artistic masterpieces, fruitful contemplation, and fanciful speculation.” Hopefully, the reader will discover this as well, as the author has included pieces of art to gaze at, including St. Theresa of Avila strategy for prayer. This is an amazing book that has much to offer.

Separated in 3 Sections:

1) Research on Jesus’ Occupation that led to inspiration;
2) A revealing of how God is working in the author’s life and continues helping readers understand the absolute benevolence of God in their own lives;
3) A summarization of Theresa of Avila’s stages of prayer.

This is a journey into the study of John 20, along with the other gospels, as Jackson sheds light on Jesus, His life before entering full time ministry, leading up to His Resurrection where Mary Magdalene found Jesus, and mistakenly thought he was the gardener, that becomes a beautiful and wonderfully insightful read!
